With energy prices on the rise there has never been a better time to invest in a Swim Spa, especially now you can reduce your running costs even further with an Air Source Heat Pump that is designed with energy efficiency in mind.
The Gecko Air Source Heat Pump offers an efficient way of heating your Swim Spa whilst reducing your energy costs up to 75%, tried & tested by us at Hydropool Dorset throughout Winter 22/23 on our display Swim Spa (Hydropool Self-Cleaning 17AX Aqua Trainer).
The air source heat pump works as an attachment to your Swim Spa and can be used all year round giving great savings on energy bills.
Air source heat pumps are an energy-efficient and economical way of heating your Swim Spa. This innovation has already proved to be beneficial for heating homes, commercial spaces or swimming pools and now they have become increasingly popular for spas too.
How does a Heat Pump work?
The pump heats up the water by extracting natural heat from the outside air. The heat pump fan draws in the air and directs it over the evaporator coil which contains an advanced liquid refrigerant. The air turns into a gas which is then compressed to increase the heat. This hot gas passes through the heat exchanger which transfers the heat from the hot gas to water and heats it up.
What are the main benefits of an Air Source Heat Pump?
- Savings on energy costs – Up to 75% saved with a heat pump than without!
- Works all year round and down to -15 degrees external temperature.
- Self-regulating and timer controlled.
- Works from the touch pad of your Hydropool Swim Spa.
How much energy will I save?
We have undertaken a controlled test in the showroom here at Hydropool Dorset for several months over Winter 22/23. We tested the same Swim Spa without using an air source heat pump, and then with an air source heat pump. Using an Owl Electricity Monitor, we were able to single the reads of the energy costs on the Swim Spa alone.
The water temperature was set to 30°c and the average outside air temperature varied between -8°c and 7°c between the months of Nov 22 – Feb 23.
Overall, our Swim Spa cost on average £2 per day to run, saving an average of £4-6 per day!
